Mohammed Osman

From Mahaboob Nagar, Andhra Pradesh, Mohammed Osman’s journey into art began with the vibrant rhythms of village life and the rich traditions of his homeland. A graduate in Painting from JNTU College of Fine Arts, Hyderabad, Osman found his early calling as a muralist- a practice that laid the foundation for his richly layered and celebratory style.

Osman's art is a tribute to the everyday, yet nothing in his work feels ordinary. His canvases are alive with wide-eyed women marked by bold bindis, men with expressive features, and animals cloaked in festivity. At the heart of his visual storytelling is the Gangireddu - the sacred, elaborately decorated bull that heralds the harvest festival of Pongal. These bulls, adorned with silk, bells, beads, and intricate patterns, move gracefully to the sounds of nadaswaram and the beat of village drums. Osman captures this kinetic energy and cultural richness with finesse.

Influenced by M.F. Husain’s expressive visual language, Osman pays homage to Indian traditions and visual narratives, weaving in motifs of celebration, identity, and folklore like they are festivals frozen in time.
